Eligibility: Graduate Students
Those recognized as having difficulty in paying entrance fee due to economic reasons prior to the deadline and are recognized as having outstanding academic capabilities.
Those recognized as having difficulty in paying the entrance fee due to the death of the person primarily responsible for the payment within the past one year prior to admission, or due to damage sustained by the student or the person responsible for the payment of entrance fee caused by wind, flood or other natural disasters.
Those recognized by the university president as having reasons similar to the ones above, in line with the university rules.
Note: Students who fall under one of the above 1-3 categories are eligible for applying for entrance fee exemption or deferred payment.
Application procedure:
Students who are applying for entrance fee exemption or deferred payment are requested to submit application forms included in the document for enrollment guidance and other required documents at the time of the admission procedure.
Students who are denied entrance fee exemption or received a waiver of only half the tuition fee can apply for deferred payment.

Tuition Fee Exemption
The University of Tsukuba will be accepting applications for exemption of tuition for the two periods of April-September and October-March.
Application Acceptance Periods
- The First Period (tuition exemption for April-September): From beginning of February to middle of February (Current Students)
- The Second Period (tuition exemption for October-March): From June to Beginning of July
Eligible Applicants: Students who fall under one of the following categories.
- Those recognized as having difficulty in paying entrance fees due to economic reasons before the deadline and are recognized as having outstanding academic capabilities.
- Those recognized as having difficulty in paying the entrance fee due to the death of the person primarily responsible for the payment within six months prior to admission (one year prior in case of new students), or due to damage caused by wind, flood or other natural disasters.
- Those recognized as having difficulty in paying the entrance fee because the person primarily responsible for the payment is recognized to be suffering economic hardships, as he or she is dismissed from a job or caught in unavoidable circumstances within six months prior to admission (one year prior in case of new students).
- Those recognized by the university president as having reasons similar to the ones above, in line with the university rules.
- Students whose families are suffered from the Great East Japan Earthquake.

Application procedure
Application period will be posted on a bulletin board. Students applying for tuition fee exemption are requested to apply with required documents after receiving application form at each Academic Service Office.
