It is the student’s responsibility to plan academic and living expenses for studying in Japan before entering university. However, if unpredictable or unavoidable circumstances arise that make it difficult for you or your financial supporters to pay the tuition fee, you may apply for a tuition waiver each semester. Note that not all applicants will be granted the waiver. Automatic withdrawal of the tuition fee from your bank account will be suspended until the application result is announced.
a. Types of waivers
-full waiver:Students are exempt from full tuition fees for one semester.
-half waiver:Half of the tuition is waived. The remaining half must be paid by a student.
-extension of payment deadline:Students are responsible to pay the tuition fees, but are given a grace period to complete the payment.
-installment payment:Students are allowed to pay their tuition fees in monthly installments.
b. Who can apply
-if you are not able to pay the tuition fees due to financial reasons but are keeping good academic standings
-if you are not able to pay the tuition fees due to financial reasons but are keeping good academic standings
-if your financial supporter dies within 6 months before the payment deadline
-if you or your financial supporter experience natural disasters that cause serious damage within 6 months before the payment deadline
-if you have other reasons which the university finds appropriate for you to apply
c. When to apply*
-for Spring Semester: February ~ March
-for Fall Semester: July ~ September
