The scholarship directory
The scholarship directory is the ideal reference tool. Use it to find out which scholarships you qualify for out of the more than 5,000 funding sources offered by UdeM, businesses, foundations and various public and private organizations. The number of possibilities will surprise you. For more targeted results, simply refine your search criteria.
Note: To secure a chance at funding from some of the larger granting agencies, you must submit your application very early. Some applications need to be submitted a year in advance, even before your application for admission.
Scholarships office
Need help searching for scholarships or preparing your application file? If you are looking for workshops, information sessions, assistance, advice or individual consultations, the Scholarships office can help.
Your research supervisor and your department
Your research supervisor can be a significant ally in your search for funding. Most research professors are aware of the best scholarships in their field.
Some faculties and departments also offer integrated funding, which is a financial package arranged by the department to ensure you have a guaranteed fixed income for a predetermined number of sessions. For more information, speak with your supervisor.
The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
Every year, the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies allocates more than $8 million in financial support for its students. The deadlines for scholarship application are available on the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies website.
Funding for foreign students
Some scholarships were created with foreign students in mind. The additional tuition waiver for foreign students program, for example, can considerably reduce your tuition costs.
There are also several funding sources available in your home country.
Job offers
Graduate students are offered jobs as teaching assistants, research assistants or lecturers. Information is available from your academic unit or professors.
Several jobs on campus are reserved for students. To see the list of positions to be filled, visit the website of the Centre étudiant de soutien à la réussite – Emploi (Student success office – employment).
Foreign students can consult the Bureau des étudiants internationaux (Foreign students office) website for information about job possibilities and the required documents.
Government financial aid
Students can also receive support from the Québec loans and bursaries program. Certain rules apply. Visit the website of the Loans and Bursaries Program of the Ministère de l'Enseignement supérieur, de la Recherche et de la Science .
