Introduction of Aoyama Campus
The easily accessible Aoyama Campus is within walking distance from Omotesando Station of the Tokyo Metro and Shibuya Station of JR lines , Tokyu Line , Keio Line and Tokyo Metro. Aoyama Campus has been the main site of Aoyama Gakuin since its foundation and the home of a kindergarten, an elementary school, a junior and senior high school, a women's junior college, seven university faculties in the fields of arts/humanities and social sciences, and the Graduate School. A total of about 21,000 students study here.
Aoyama, located in the eastern part of Shibuya Ward near Minato Ward, is one of the most sophisticated areas in the 23 wards of Tokyo. In the vicinity, there is United Nations University and the embassies of various countries as well as facilities that produce advanced culture (Cultural Facilities in Aoyama/Omotesando, Roppongi). With redevelopment of the area proceeding apace, it has become a safer and more enjoyable town.
As shown by its former name of Midorigaoka, this area is characterized by its abundant greenery in spite of being located in the middle of the Tokyo metropolitan area. In the quiet campus extending over an area of 120,000 square meters, the tree-lined approach from the main gate and many trees near school buildings provide an enjoyable view of the changing seasons. The southern part near Tokyo Metropolitan Expressway No. 3, where the elementary school is located, is a particularly quiet spot, and in the neighborhood are located the Hitachinomiya Residence, Jissen Women's Educational Institute and Kokugakuin University.
In this favored environment, Aoyama Gakuin has been offering education based on the Christian faith for 140 years.
