UC Berkeley calculates the estimated undergraduate costs using the student budget. This represents the average amounts paid by UC students, based on three types of housing situations: living in a residence hall, living off campus, and living with relatives.
The student budget is a major factor in setting the amount of financial aid you may receive as an admitted student. Your budget is based on the housing option you select on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) until your housing status is confirmed by the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office.
