General admission requirements
A Bachelor's degree
A completed Bachelor's degree, corresponding to a Swedish Bachelor's degree (180 ECTS credits), or equivalent academic qualifications from an internationally recognised university.
Conditional acceptance for students in their final year
Students in their final year of undergraduate education may apply to KTH and, if qualified, receive conditional acceptance. If you have not yet completed your studies, please include a written statement from the Degree Administrations Office (or equivalent unit), stating your expected completion date (see form below). Statements from other staff members, such as faculty members, will not be accepted. In order to be awarded a Master’s degree from KTH, all applicants are required to have a completed Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, without exception. Applicants who are completing longer technical programmes, and have completed courses equivalent to an amount of 180 ECTS credits, will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Language requirements
English language proficiency equivalent to (the Swedish upper secondary school) English course B/6. There are different ways to fulfill the English language requirements:
English language tests
TOEFL
Paper-based test: total result of 575 (written test, minimum grade 4.5)
Internet-based test: total result of 90 (written test, minimum grade 20)
English test results from TOEFL should be sent directly from the ETS test centre to University Admissions in Sweden (institution code: "Sweden 3477").
IELTS
A minimum overall mark of 6.5, with no section lower than 5.5 (only Academic Training accepted). A copy should be sent to University Admissions in Sweden, they will verify the result online.
University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL)
Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) Certificate in Advanced English
Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) (Certificate of Proficiency in English)
Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB)
For English 6: Minimum score of 90
Pearson PTE Academic
For English 6: Score of 62 (writing 61). Please send a copy of your Test Taker Score Report. Your test scores must be verified. Contact Pearson and arrange for them to assign your test result to “University Admissions in Sweden”.
This will enable University Admissions to verify your test score online. Please note that this process can take time, so arrange this as soon as possible if you already have test results to report. University Admissions will not accept results that can’t be verified.
