It is also important to keep in mind that you will need to be insured while in Norway.
Semester Fee
Semester Fee to SiB
The public institutions of higher education in Norway do not charge tuition fees. Still, students must pay a semester fee to the Student Welfare Organisation (SiB). You automatically become a member of SiB when you pay the semester fee. As a member of SiB, students are entitled to a range of welfare services.
The only fee to be paid at the University of Bergen is the semester fee to theStudent Welfare Organisation (SiB), currently NOK 590. Students on exchange programmes do not have to pay the semester fee.
The semester fee is NOK 590,- (as of spring 2015). A part of the semester fee (NOK 40,-) is donated to the Norwegian Students' and Academics' International Assistance Fund (SAIH). If you for some reason do not wish to donate to SAIH, you can subtract NOK 40,- from the invoice amount and pay NOK 550,- (as of autumn 2015). If you wish to donate more, please visit the SAIH web site for more information.
Students on exchange programmes do not have to pay the semester fee. However, these students are still entitled to the same services from SiB through their exchange programme as all other registered students.
No Tuition Fees
The University of Bergen is a public institution and therefore does not charge tuition fees. This applies both to Norwegian and international students.
