Accepted applicants are requested to pay a registration fee of 400 € to cover part of the School's organization costs.
Postgraduate
To help those students who wish to sit the entrance exam for PhD courses, SISSA offers candidates the possibility to spend a period at the School before the exam.
SISSA offers the possibility to Italian and foreign graduate students to obtain fellowships by means of a competition based on academic qualifications only. The activity will last from two up to twelve months. To the admitted candidates a fellowship of the amount of € 1000 net per month will be assigned.
Undergraduate
SISSA offers to those students (both Italians and foreigners) who are close to their graduation the possibility to work and study at the School's premises and grants scholarships according to their academic curriculum only.
The activity will last from one up to twelve months. To the admitted candidates a fellowship of the amount of € 500 gross per month will be assigned. A monthly contribution towards living expenses of € 300 will also be granted to students who are not resident in the Trieste Province.
Living in Trieste
Italian and foreign students can normally find accommodation in Trieste within a few days from their arrival. Usually two or three students share a flat, costing from 150 to 400 Euro each per month.
Announcements of rooms or apartments available, or of students looking for fellow students to share, are also put on the notice board on the 2nd floor of the SISSA Main Building in front of the Students' Secretariat (Room 222).
Announcements (in Italian) can also be found by consulting the web site IL MERCATINO. One can expect to pay from 150 Euro a month for a room in an apartment and from 300 Euro a month for a small apartment (electricity, water, gas bills excluded).
Cafeteria
On the ground floor in the main building on the SISSA campus, bar service is available from Monday to Friday from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Canteen service is available every day from 12.15 to 2.30 p.m.
