The cost of living in Catania is not particularly high. Below are some prices of day-to-day products:

Accommodation
There are 60 places in double rooms available for foreign Erasmus students at the University Residence “Caracciolo” sited in Via A. Caracciolo, 108 – Catania. The price is: € 180,00 per month for a place in a double room (no single rooms) and students can book their place by directly contacting the Residence:
Local transport systems
The bus service in Catania, both urban and intercity, is the most effective mode of transport. The urban bus service has recently been completely reorganized to provide an efficient and fast way to cross the city.
A.M.T. (orange bus)
Is the main urban line
A single A.M.T. ticket costs Euro 1.00 and permits you to travel on any of the A.M.T. buses for 90 minutes. Tickets cannot be purchased on the buses but at local tobacco shops and news-stands.
The A.M.T. organisation offers students a monthly ticket at the cost of Euro 25.00, which can be purchased at its office.
- Shopping
The city centre has a wide range of shops, which are open from 9 am to 1 pm and from 4.00 to 8 pm during the winter, from 9 am to 1 pm and from 4.30 to 8 pm in summer.
Pharmacies are also open at these hours, but it is always possible to find some open at night.
Shopping centres are continuously open from 9 am to 9 pm.
Shops are closed on Monday morning.
