Tuition and other fees - information for applicants
With effect from winter semester (WS) 2011-2012 no tuition fees will be leveid for degree programs at Bergische Universität Wuppertal.
Nevertheless, on registration and at the beginning of each further semesters all students must pay a semester fee currently (summer semester 2016) amounting to €268,72. The semester fee covers the cost of free public transport on the regional network throughout the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) (Semesterticket), as well as student union and social fund contributions.
Applicants for Bergische Universität German language courses are required to pay a contributory fee of €500 on registraion and at the beginning of each further semester of the German course, in addition to the semester fee (currently €268,72 - see above).
German language courses
The University of Wuppertal offers a limited number of applicants whose mother tongue is not German, and who can provide evidence of right of admission to a university degree program, the opportunity to attend full-time preparatory German language courses. A fee of 500 Euro per semester is charged.
German courses are offered at the following levels:
◾A1, A2 (elementary)
◾B1, B2 (intermediate)
Placement at a specific level is on the basis of a test held at the beginning of the course. The courses are 40 weeks long with at least 20 hours teaching per week. Vacations follow the school vacation schedule of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW).
