PhD Programmes
Wrocław University of Technology (WrUT) runs full-time doctoral studies. The doctoral students can obtain PhD degrees in technical, chemical, mathematical and physical sciences. The full-time doctoral studies take four years and are run by the individual Faculties.
Tuition fees
a. the registration fee:
o 20 EUR (for UE citizens and applicants holding Polish citizenship)
o 200 EUR (for the other applicants)
b. 4000 EUR for each year of the four-year doctoral studies (for applicants from outside the UE)
c. 2000 EUR for the one-year course of Polish language (for applicants intending to pursue their studies in Polish)
d. 3000 EUR for the registration and conferment procedure for a doctoral degree
For each year of study foreigners shall pay in advance. In the case of the applicant’s difficult financial situation, the university authorities may reduce the costs, arrange instalments for paying them or cancel them.
The payments shall be made to the bank account or at the cashier’s office of the unit providing the education, in PLN at the National Bank of Poland euro mean exchange rate on the day of payment.
If the period of study taken up by the foreigner is shorter than the academic year, the fee is calculated proportionally to the actual duration of the study.
In legitimate cases, the head of the unit providing the education can extend the deadline for payment or consent to payment in instalments, individually for each academic year or semester of study.
The tuition fees are not returnable.
The tuition fees are returnable for a period of nonstudy if the foreigner is granted a leave or gives up her/his studies for health reasons attested by a medical certificate or for other important documented force majeure reasons.
A person applying for the validation of her/his diploma of completion of studies obtained abroad, hereafter referred to as the applicant, shall file an application with the attachments listed below to the relevant council:
1. the original diploma obtained abroad
2. a copy of her/his school-leaving certificate, secondary school final examination certificate or higher education completion diploma, on the basis of which the applicant had been admitted to the studies which ended in the issuance of the diploma for the validation of which he/she is applying
3. a curriculum vitae in Polish
4. a statement that the diploma obtained abroad has not been subject to any validation proceedings in any Polish university.
The foreign doctoral student’s diploma or other document of completion of studies abroad which is not recognized as equivalent to the Polish diploma of completion of second-level studies or uniform magister (Master) studies is subject to recognition by the validation procedure. The foreign doctoral student is obliged to obtain a document (certificate) confirming the validation by the end of the first semester of the studies. The person who does not submit the required certificate by this deadline may be crossed off the list of participants in the doctoral studies.
