UCLA is committed to helping students finance their educations; the Financial Aid and Scholarships office works closely with all students who need financial assistance.[1] A financial aid award generally consists of a combination of scholarships and grant money from UCLA and other sources, low-interest loans, and a work-study job during the academic year.
We recommend that you take the initiative to research the wide range of scholarship opportunities sponsored by outside organizations. Every year thousands of dollars go unawarded because students are not aware of these resources.

Residence for Tuition Purposes at UCLA
The financial independence requirement makes it extremely difficult for most undergraduate students whose parents are not California residents, including students from community colleges and other post-secondary institutions within California, to qualify for classification as a resident at the University of California. Transfer students who were classified as residents of California at their previous school should not assume that they will be classified as residents at UCLA.
Notes
1.International applicants please note: UCLA does not award scholarships or financial aid to undergraduate students who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United States.
2.All figures are estimates and are subject to increase. Last updated on March 7, 2016.
3.UC SHIP health insurance requirement and fees can be waived if a student already has adequate insurance coverage .
