Entry Requirements
Undergraduate:
Students holding 80%+ in each subject of the Senior High School Diploma will be considered for first year entry on an individual basis. For more information, please contact our Admissions Office atadmissions@stir.ac.uk.
English Language Requirements
If English is not your first language, you’ll need to demonstrate a minimum level of English language proficiency. The University of Stirling accepts a variety of tests, details of the minimum grades required can be found in the English Language Qualifications List.
The UK Government allows universities to accept English Language qualifications that are not on the approved SELT list for entry. Please note that this applies only to undergraduate or postgraduate level courses. The University of Stirling will continue to accept all of the English Language qualifications listed below, this includes all IELTS qualifications:
International English Language Testing System: (IELTS)
Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English: (CPE)
Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English: (CAE)
Pearson Test of English (Academic): PTE
Internet based Test of English as a Foreign Language Test: IBT TOEFL
Any English language qualification should have been taken, typically, within two years of the University of Stirling course start date. We consider the following as equivalent test scores:
undergraduate
IELTS 6.0 with 5.5 minimum in each skill
Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) Grade C or above
Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) Grade C or above
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) 54 with 51 in each component
IBT TOEFL 80 with no subtest less than 17
IELTS 7.0 overall
Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) Grade B or above
Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) Grade A
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) 67 with a minimum of 55 in each component
IBT TOEFL 100 with no-subtest lower than 20
Entry Clearance/Visa
The University of Stirling is a Tier 4 Sponsor under the Points Based System for immigration. All international students (with the exception of EEA or Swiss Nationals) intending to study in the UK for longer than six months must apply for entry clearance (visa) before leaving their home country.
