Undergraduate Entry requirements
Students who have completed 12 years of education (Gao Zhong) in China must complete a Foundation Programme or GCE A Level (or equivalents) in order to progress onto the undergraduate degree programmes. They will also need to demonstrate proficiency in English language. Please note that students who have taken the Chinese University Entrance Exam (Gao Kao) in China are also required to complete a Foundation Programme.
All applications for undergraduate programmes should be made through UCAS.
Liverpool International College (LIC) provides Foundation Certificate programmes which aim to help students reach GCE ‘A’ level equivalent standards. Students who have completed the Foundation Certificate programme and have obtained the required grades will be guaranteed for admissions on to the degree programme at the University.
The University is a member of the Northern Consortium (NCUK)which offers an International Foundation Year (IFY) at a number of cities across China. Students who have completed the IFY programme and have obtained the required grades will be considered for admissions on to the degree programme at the University.
Xi'an Jiaotong Liverpool University (XJTLU) is an international university jointly founded by Xi’an Jiaotong University China and the University of Liverpool UK as a joint venture. The University offers undergraduate degree programmes in the fields of science, engineering and management, and awards both its own Chinese degree and a degree from the University of Liverpool. Students at XJTLU can transfer to Liverpool for the final two years at the University through a 2+2 articulation route.
Students who have studied one year undergraduate programme from a recognised Chinese university may be considered for direct entry to the first year on some undergraduate programmes. If students have studies more than two years on an undergraduate programme from a recognised Chinese university, they may be considered for direct entry to the second year. However, we strongly advise you to check this with the Admissions of the relevant programme before making the application.
Students who hold a three-year diploma (Da Zhuan) from a recognised Chinese university may be considered for direct entry to some of the second year undergraduate programme. However, we strongly advise you to check this with the Admissions of the relevant programme before making the application.
English language entry requirements
All international students applying to the University of Liverpool must demonstrate that they are competent in the use of the English language.
IELTS
6.0 with minimum 5.5 in each component
Geography BA/BSc require 6.5 overall with minimum 5.5 in each component
Biological Sciences - 6.0 with minimum 5.5 in each component
Clinical programmes in Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science - 7.0 with minimum 7.0 in each component
IELTS (non-SELT)
6.0 with minimum 5.5 in each component
