Entry requirements
Foundation
We offer a foundation programme for students who do not yet meet the University’s entry requirements for undergraduate (eg BA or BSc) study.
For entry to Durham's foundation programmes we would consider students that have completed 12 years of schooling including 3 years at senior high school with an average of 80% in the High School Leaving Certificate. Students must present High School Transcript and Huikao Certificate (original and official translation).
Undergraduate
Undergraduate level studies are bachelors degree level studies (e.g. BA or BSc).

· Applicants who have successfully completed the first year of a degree from a prestigious Chinese university with scores of 80% or above may be considered for year 1 entry to Bachelor degree courses.

University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), Beijing (Study Group) - International Foundation Year - Pass all modules with 67% overall, all marks above 65%
Wuhan University (Study Group) – International Foundation Programme - Pass all modules with 67% overall, all marks above 65%
Applicants who have successfully completed the first year of a degree from a prestigious Chinese university with scores of 80% or above may be considered for direct entry to Bachelor Degree courses.
Please note: the advertised requirements are equivalent to ABB at A-Level. Please contact the International Office for more information.
English Language Requirements
The minimum University entry levels for non-native speakers of English or applicants who come from non-majority English Speaking countries onto most programmes of study are listed below.
Preferred Tests:
a. IELTS: 6.5 (no component under 6.0)
b. TOEFL iBT (internet based test): 92 (no component under 23)
c. Cambridge Proficiency (CPE): Grade C
d. Cambridge Advanced (CAE): Grade A
e. Cambridge IGCSE First Language English at Grade C or above [not normally acceptable for students who require a Tier 4 student visa]
f. Cambridge IGCSE English as a Second Language at Grade B or above [not normally acceptable for students who require a Tier 4 student visa]
g. GCSE English Language at grade C or above
h. Pearson Test of English (overall score 62 (with no score less than 56 in each component))
However, a number of Academic Departments/ Schools do have higher or alternative English language entry requirements for both Undergraduate and Postgraduate level programmes.
All qualifications must normally be taken within two years of the start of the academic programme (except where an extension applies, please see footnote below for details[1]) to meet the academic requirements of the University.
