REQUIREMENTS
Mizzou is a selective university that utilizes threshold-based admissions standards. When considering applicants for admission, we review academic performance in the following "core" subject areas, where one unit is equal to one year of study:
Mathematics: 4 units (algebra and higher)
Sciences: 3 units
Social studies: 3 units
Languages: 2 units
Fine arts: 1 unit
If you are participating in a Chinese Summer Program please submit your final transcript with a request to CDGDC for verification. Request the verification to be sent to the MU International Admissions Office. Also, have your official transcript sent to the University of Missouri in a sealed envelope from the college/university issuing your transcript.
CADEMIC CRITERIA
International applicants meeting the academic performance criteria listed below will be considered for admission to the University of Missouri:
High school or previous coursework that that includes the required "core" curriculum and meets one of the following:
Grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a U.S. 4.0 scale
Grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a U.S. 5.0 scale
Average grades of 80 or higher on a 100-point scale (8 or higher on a 10 point scale)
IGCSE scores of C or higher in five or more subjects as well as three A-level certificantes of grade C or higher.
International high school records following standards not listed above will be converted to a U.S. 4.0-scale as informed by AACRAO for the purpose of determining admissibility. Curriculum rigor and grade distribution are taken into consideration when determining admissibility.
SAT or ACT scores. International applicants are not required to submit SAT or ACT scores for general admission. However, submission of these scores is required for scholarship consideration and direct admission to certain academic programs.
Applicants seeking direct admission to the College of Engineering should provide an SAT math score of 550 or higher, or an ACT math score of 24 or higher. Applicants seeking direct admission to the Missouri School of Journalism should provide an SAT score of 1290 or higher (critical reading + math) or a composite ACT score of 29 or higher.
Evidence of English language proficiency.

comprehend oral lectures
participate in discussions
read textbooks with full comprehension
write effectively in English
International students are required to take either the Test of English As a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam.
TEST OF ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE (TOEFL)
Every applicant whose native language is not English is required to take the TOEFL. Your TOEFL score cannot be more than two years old. For the paper-based written test, our minimum TOEFL score requirement is 500, with no part score lower than 50. For the Internet-based test, our minimum TOEFL score requirement is 61, with no part score lower than 15. Many departments have higher requirements.

NTERNATIONAL ENGLISH LANGUAGE TESTING SYSTEM (IELTS)
All international students admitted to MU undergraduate programs are required to take an English proficiency test administered by the English Language Support Program (ELSP). Plan to arrive on campus a few days before regular registration to take the ELSP test. Even if you have been admitted based on your TOEFL or IELTS scores, your English ability will be re-evaluated.
If your ELSP score is satisfactory, you’ll be permitted to begin full-time academic enrollment immediately. If the score is not satisfactory, you will be required to enroll in ELSP courses along with a reduced academic course load. You must pass these courses within the first two semesters of enrollment.

PROOF OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT
As an international applicant to Mizzou, you’ll need to provide proof of having financial resources immediately available to cover 12 months of expenses.
