UT Dallas welcomes students from around the world to study in 86 master's and doctoral degree programs. More than 5,400 international students, from over 100 countries, attend UT Dallas.
Applying for Admission
The UT Dallas Office of Admission and Enrollment requires the following:
Proof of English proficiency.
GRE or GMAT score.
Completed UT Dallas graduate application.
Application fee.
$50 non-refundable foreign credential fee.
Diplomas and/or degree certificates. Upload scanned copies with certified English translations by the appropriate academic institution or government agency.
All college/university transcripts or mark sheets.
Letters of recommendation.
Certified translation of non-English documents.
Additional requirements vary by program. Contact the graduate department to which you are applying.
English Proficiency
The ability to read, write, speak and understand English is essential for success in graduate studies at UT Dallas. If your native language is not English and you have been educated outside of the United States, you must demonstrate English proficiency.
The English proficiency requirement can be waived for students fromcountries whose government language is English and whose education has been in English
English proficiency requirements can be fulfilled with one of the following:
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) iBT (Internet-based test)
Minimum score: 80
UT Dallas TOEFL code: 6897
TOEFL PBT (paper-based test)
Minimum score: 550
International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
Minimum score: 6.5
Pearson Test of English Academic Academic (PTE)
Minimum score: 67
Completion of Level 112 at an ELS Language Center
Official test scores must be less than two years old at the time of admission. A minimum score is required for unconditional, regular admission as a graduate student. Applicants with lower scores will be considered but are advised to improve their test scores and reapply.
Submitting Scores
Unofficial scanned copies of official test scores can be uploaded using the online graduate application for admission review. Official test scores should be submitted to UT Dallas directly from the testing agencyafter admission.
Required Credentials
Applicants to a graduate program must have earned at least the equivalent of a U.S. four-year bachelor's degree beyond the 12th grade of secondary or high school from an institution recognized by that country's ministry of education. Most three-year bachelor's degrees are not acceptable. An overall grade point average of 3.0 (based on 4.0 scale) or better is expected.
Scanned, unofficial copies of your transcripts/mark sheets, diplomas, degree certificates and test scores should be uploaded through the online graduate application. Outside credential evaluations are not required or accepted for admission. The Office of Admission and Enrollment performs evaluations for applicants with international academic credentials. Applicants with international academic documents will be assessed an additional foreign credential evaluation fee of $50.
Document Translation
All documents must be submitted in their original language with certified English translations. The translation must be provided by the issuing academic institution, a certified English translation company or authorized governmental agency.
