The $50 Canadian application fee ($100 for international applicants) is payable by credit card (Visa or Mastercard only) only for web applications.

Proof of English proficiency
International students who have completed secondary schooling, an undergraduate degree program, or a graduate degree program at a recognized institution where the language of instruction is English are advised to provide a letter from their university stating the language of instruction.
All other international students will have to provide minimum scores from acceptable standardized tests listed in the Calendar.
TOEFL - Paper-based score of 550 (or higher), or Internet-based with a score of 80 (or higher).
IELTS - An average band score of 6.5 or higher.
CAEL - A score between 50 and 60 in each of four bands, with at least 2 band scores of 60.
CanTEST - Band Level 4.5 in the listening comprehension and reading comprehension sub-tests and a score of 4 in writing.
MELAB - A score of 85% (or higher).
Only official and valid score reports sent directly to SGS by the testing agency are acceptable.
Minimum admission requirements
Anthropology
MA – Bachelor's degree (minimum second class) in an appropriate area of study
PhD – Master's degree in an appropriate area of study
Arts & Education
MA & Ed – BEd with a focus area in French, or a BA in French and a BEd; two years of experience teaching on French; 70% in last 30 courses; a level of French proficiency satisfactory to the MA & Ed admissions committee (as reflected by a sample of French writing and possibly French interviews)
Classics
MA – Bachelor's degree (minimum second class) in an appropriate area of study
Economics
MA – Bachelor's degree (minimum second class) in economics or a closely related field (international graduate students are strongly encouraged to submit a valid GRE score report)
Environmental Policy
MA – Bachelor's degree (minimum second class) in an appropriate area of study
English
MA – Bachelor's degree (minimum second class honours) in an appropriate area of study, with 20 courses in English and minimum 80% in English courses
PhD – Master's degree in English with minimum 80% in graduate courses
Gender Studies
MGS – Bachelor's degree (minimum second class honours) in an appropriate area of study; applicants may be required to completed one or more undergraduate course(s), including Gender Studies 4000
Geography
MA, MSc – Bachelor's degree (minimum second class) in an appropriate area of study
PhD – Master's degree in an appropriate area of study
Linguistics
MA – Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics (or equivalent)
PhD – Master’s degree in Linguistics
Conditional admission to the MA program may be offered to applicants who do not have a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics. Admission is conditional on successful completion of a designated number of undergraduate courses.
An MA in Applied Linguistics does not qualify for entry to the Ph.D. program.
German Language and Literature
MA – Bachelor's degree (minimum second class honours) in German; in addition, candidates must have acquired a superior knowledge of the spoken and written language, and may be asked to take advanced undergraduate courses
Philosophy
MA – Bachelor's degree (first class) in Philosophy or a closely related field
PhD – Master of Arts in Philosophy or an equivalent qualification
Religious Studies
MA – Bachelor's degree (minimum second-class honours) in Religious Studies including 15 courses in Religious Studies with a grade of ‘B’ in each
Sociology
MA – Bachelor's degree (minimum second class) in an appropriate area of study
PhD – Master's degree in an appropriate area of study
Political Science
MA – Bachelor's degree (minimum second class) in a relevant area of study (generally political science or a closely-related discipline) and 75% average over last 20 courses
Psychology
MAPS – Bachelor's degree (minimum second class honours) in an appropriate area of study and GRE
MSc – Bachelor's degree (minimum second class honours) in an appropriate area of study and GRE
Biochemistry
MSc – Bachelor's degree (minimum second class) in an appropriate area of study
PhD – Master’s degree in an appropriate area of study
Environmental Science
MSc – Bachelor's degree (minimum second class) in an appropriate area of study
PhD – Master’s degree in an appropriate area of study
Computer Science
MSc – Bachelor degree (major in Computer Science or Computer Engineering) with a minimum average of 75% overall
PhD – Master’s degree in an appropriate area of study
Business Administration
MBA – Bachelor's degree (minimum ‘B’ standing), balanced GMAT score of at least 550, and two years of full-time relevant work experience
Medicine
Graduate diploma – Bachelor's degree (minimum second class) in an appropriate area of study
MSc (Med) – Bachelor's degree (minimum second class) in an appropriate area of study
