Master’s Student
Four-year (honours) bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, from an approved university.
Minimum of second-class honours, or B standing, or equivalent.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY
Proficiency in usage, both written and oral, is essential to pursue graduate studies at Laurier. Applicants whose language of instruction during the undergraduate degree was other than English must provide evidence of English proficiency prior to admission.
Minimum Scores
TOEFL iBT: minimum score of 89, with minimum skill scores of 21 in each of the skills tests (speaking, writing, reading and listening)
Paper-based TOEFL: minimum of 573
IELTS: minimum score of 7
MELAB: minimum score of 90
CAEL: minimum score of 70
Individual programs may have additional language requirements, and it is your responsibility to ascertain the nature of these requirements and to fulfill them.
Applied Computing (MAC)
An honours degree in Computer Science or a closely related area that includes courses in data structure, object-oriented language programming, and software engineering.
A final year average of at least B+ is usually required, along with a cumulative average of at least B+ in all computer science courses.

Applied Politics (MAP)
A four-year (honours) undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in political science or a related field.
A minimum B+ average in your last two years of undergraduate study.
An honours graduate from a program other than political science may be admitted if evidence justifying admission is offered and the student has completed a minimum of two courses in political science, one of which must have a social science theory component; research methods is strongly recommended.

Business Economics (MABE)
A four-year (honours) undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in economics or a related field.
A minimum B average with one course in each of the following: calculus, statistics and econometrics (focusing on regression analysis).
Two one-term undergraduate courses in both intermediate microeconomic theory and intermediate macroeconomic theory.

Criminology (MA)
A four-year honours undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in criminology or related program.
A minimum B+ average in your final year of study and a cumulative average of at least B+ in all criminology courses.

Cultural Analysis and Social Theory (MA)
Bachelor of Arts (honours) degree or equivalent.
Minimum B+ in your fourth year of study.

Education (MEd)
A minimum "B" standing in your final two years of study.
Two years professional experience or a completed Bachelor of Education degree with a minimum B standing.
Applicants with three-year degrees will be considered on a case-by-case basis via alternate admission procedures.

Successful experience as an educator in a professional setting may be considered in the selection process.
Environmental Studies (MES)
A four-year (honours) undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in geography or related program.
A minimum B average.

Finance (MFin)
Full-Time Program (Waterloo)
A four-year honours undergraduate degree in economics, business or related field with a concentration in finance.
Minimum B+ average in your last two years of full-time study.
GMAT score of at least 650 for the full-time with co-op program, and at least 620 for the full-time (no co-op) program.
High proficiency in written and spoken English (co-op option applicants are selected on the basis of an interview).*
*Note: Applicants whose first language is not English, and who have not completed an undergraduate or graduate degree at an institution where English is the language of instruction, must supply evidence of proficiency in English before admission. Normally, this evidence is an acceptable score on one of the following: TOEFL, IELTS or CAEL Assessment. A minimum score of 573 paper-based, 100 internet-based (with minimum skills scores of 21 in each of the four skills sets) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or a minimum score of 7 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or its equivalent is required.
Geography (MSc)
A four-year honours undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Physical Geography, Environmental or Earth Sciences, Geomatics, or a related field.
A minimum B average.

International Public Policy (MIPP)
A Bachelor of Arts (honours) in economics, political science, or related degree, or training and interests that involve significant interdisciplinary research pertinent to the area of international public policy.
A minimum B average.
The equivalent of a one-term undergraduate course in microeconomic theory, a one-term undergraduate course in macroeconomic theory, an introductory statistics course and a relevant political science courseor the successful completion of an approved preparatory program.

Management (MSc)
For the OB/HRM field, you need an undergraduate (honours) degree in business, or other field relating to OB/HRM such as psychology or sociology.
For the Marketing field, you need an undergraduate (honours) degree in business/commerce, or other field relating to Marketing such as psychology, economics or sociology.
For the SCM field, you need an undergraduate degree (honours) in science, engineering, mathematics, business, economics or a related field.
A minimum B+ average in your undergraduate studies.
A GMAT score of at least 650 or a GRE score of at least 305.
Proficiency in English.

Psychology (MSc)
A four-year (honours) undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in psychology or related field.
An honours graduate in a program other than psychology, or a combination of psychology and another subject, or general degree graduates may be admitted if evidence justifying admission is offered. However, a program of appropriate preparatory studies (a qualifying year) may be required of such applicants. Honours graduates in psychology may also be required to successfully complete one or two undergraduate courses before they are admitted to the MSc program.

Psychology (MA)
A four-year (honours) undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in psychology or related field.

Social Work (MSW)
Four-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent for our two-year full-time, three-year part-time, or combined MSW-MDiv programs.
BSW for our advanced standing programs.
B average in your last academic year.
Academic background includes at least four full social science credits and a half-credit course in research methodology.
Although not required for admission, approximately two years of paid and/or volunteer experience in human service organizations would be considered an asset to the application assessment.
Sociology (MA)
A four-year (honours) undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in sociology or a related field.
A B+ average in your final year of full-time study and a cumulative B+ average in all sociology courses.

Theology (MA)
A Bachelor of Arts with minimum B average.
