Master of Arts in Criminology
Honours bachelor’s degree in criminology (or equivalent) or an honours bachelor’s degree with a concentration in criminology (or equivalent)
*Normally, applicants will have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 (B+ average). Only in exceptional circumstances will this requirement be waived
Masters of International Development Studies (MAIDS)
Honours baccalaureate undergraduate degree (or equivalent) with a minor concentration in International Development Studies or a relevant social science, or who have earned a baccalaureate undergraduate degree and who can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the Admissions Committee that they have had considerable practical experience in the field of international development. Additional courses may be required at the discretion of the IDS Program should an incoming student show evidence of a specific gap in undergraduate preparation.
Master of Arts in Philosophy
Honours bachelor’s degree in Philosophy or equivalent
Master of Arts in Women and Gender Studies (WGST)
A four year bachelor of Arts degree
Minimum GPA of 3.0 (B average)
Master of Arts (Theology and Religious Studies)
Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies or Theology, or a first degree in Theology (Masters in Divinity, for example), or their equivalent.
Master of Business Administration
An undergraduate degree (any discipline) from a recognized university with at least a B average or equivalent.
GMAT of 550 with minimums in qualitative and quantitative sections (50%), and 5.0 in the essays. We will also accept a GRE.
2 years of work experience strongly preferred, 3 years for those with a 3 year undergraduate degree.
For non-English language candidates minimum TOEFL IBT is 100 (no band below 22); IELTS of 7.0 (no band below 6.5).
Master of Applied Economics
Academic
Applicants will possess, at a minimum, a 4-year Bachelor’s degree, with a cumulative GPA equivalent to an average grade of at least “B”, including (normally):
At least one undergraduate course in Statistics at an intermediate level (preferably econometrics),
Intermediate microeconomics and macroeconomics, and
Economic theory at an advanced (fourth-year) level
Language Requirements
Students whose native language is not English must submit a TOEFL or IELTS score.
A score of at least 90 on the internet-based (iBt) TOEFL with no band below 20,or
An IELTS score of at least 6.5 with no band below 6
is required. TOEFL/IELTS scores must be less than 2 years old.
Master of Finance
A four year university degree (or equivalent) in mathematics, engineering, physics, computer science, economics or other mathematical discipline with an overall minimum average of B;
An average score across all quantitative courses of:
75% for applicants with engineering, physics, computer science and mathematics degrees
80% for applicants with business degrees
85% for applicants with economics and international trade degrees
For applicants whose first language is not English or who did not graduate from an English medium university, a minimum English proficiency score of:
IELTS 6.5 with no individual band score below 6.0
TOEFL 550 or iBT 80
or equivalent
Master of Technology Entrepreneurship & Innovation
Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. The applicant must have at least a B average (3.0 GPA) in the last 60 credit hours. Students applying by the deadline will be considered for scholarships. Above average applicants may be considered for acceptance after these dates.
MSc in Applied Psychology (Industrial/Organizational Psychology)
An honours degree in Psychology (or equivalent)
M.Sc. in Applied Science
Honours BSc or equivalent
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
A faculty member who agrees to supervise your research
MSc in Astronomy
A B.Sc. (HONS) degree or equivalent in Astronomy, Mathematics or Physics
Master of Arts in History
Honours bachelor’s degree in History or equivalent
Language Requirements for International Applicants
Students whose first language is not English, and who have not attended an English language secondary school or have a previous degree completed totally in English, are required to take one of the standardized English language proficiency tests. These tests are administered by the University of Michigan, the College Entrance Examination Board, the University of Cambridge, and Saint Mary’s University. The minimum standards for admission to the University are listed below. The Master of Applied Economics, Master of Technology Entrepreneurship and Innovation, MBA, Ph.D. Business Administration (Management), MA in IDS, the PhD in IDS, PhD in Applied Science and the MSc in Computing and Data Analytics have requirements greater than those listed here (see the individual graduate program descriptions for details).
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - minimum 550 on paper-based - minimum iBT 80, with no band below 20
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) – minimum 6.5 with no individual score below 6.0
CanTEST – minimum 4.5 with no individual score below 4.0
Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL) – minimum 60 with no individual band below 50
