  MBA program

FOR INTERNATIONAL OR NON-NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKING STUDENTS

International students can apply for direct admission to the MBA program. To do so, complete the application steps above and submit the additional requirement of an IELTS score of at least 7.0 across all bands or a TOEFL score of at least 100, with balanced subscores.

If you do not have a language score at this level, you can apply for conditional admission to the MBA program in cooperation with the ESLI Pre-Masters Program at TWU or the TLC Post-Graduate Studies program in Richmond. To do this, complete the application steps below. This application process will provide students with a conditional admission to the MBA program, preceded by necessary English language training and the opportunity to complete outstanding application requirements for the program.

Application: Complete the ESLI application or TLC application.

Fee: Include a non-refundable international application fee of $150.

References: Request two confidential reference letters, one of which must be from a senior officer in your organization familiar with your character, work performance, and leadership potential. It not available, two academic references are acceptable.

Admissions Statement: All students must submit a personal admissions statement of 500-800 words. This statement should describe your academic and personal goals, key experiences leading to your desire for academic advancement, and reasons for pursuing this program at Trinity Western University.

Transcripts: Send an official copy of your post-secondary transcript from all institutions you have attended. The MBA program requires a GPA of at least 3.0 based on the final two years of your undergraduate program.

English Requirements: A TOEFL score of at least 100 or an IELTS score of at least 7.0 across all bands is required for direct admission consideration. However, applicants who would like to enrol in Pre-Masters ESL Program or TLC Post-Graduate Studies coursework prior to entering the MBA program may receive a conditional admission to the MBA program, without submitting a TOEFL or IELTS score. In this case, English language proficiency will be assessed upon arrival at TWU and students will be placed into the appropriate ESL class, whether in ESLi’s Pre-Masters Program or TLC’s Post-Graduate Studies option.

Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT): During the final semester of the ESLI Pre-Masters program or TLC Post-Graduate Studies program, you will be required to write the GMAT exam. A score of 550 or higher is recommended to be competitive for admission.

Entrance Interview: Some applicants will be selected to complete an interview (which may occur by telephone conference call or Skype interview via the internet). The interview will evaluate an applicant's level of maturity, interpersonal skills, career focus, and motivation. This may be deferred until successful completion of the ESLi Pre-Masters program or TLC Post-Graduate Studies program and GMAT exam.

Educational Studies - Special Education (MA)

An undergraduate degree in education or a relevant field

Successful completion of the professional year, with an overall GPA of at least 3.0 (Consideration may be given to a lower GPA when the applicant can demonstrate ability to study at the graduate level.)

Three or more years of school-based teaching experience or approved equivalent.

  Counselling Psychology (MA)

#1: You have earned a 4-year B.A. degree in Psychology (honours psychology preferred), or an equivalent 4-year degree, from an accredited institution. You have successfully completed all pre-requisite courses and admission requirements to the program.

#2: You have earned a 4-year degree from an accredited institution, but do not meet all admission requirements. In this case, you may receive a conditional acceptance pending successful completion (minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher) of pre-requisite course(s) prior to starting the program.

The minimum G.P.A. for admission is 3.0 (or B) based on the last two years of the B.A. (presuming these include predominantly upper-level courses) and the minimum grades of four of the upper-level courses in psychology must be 3.7 (A-).

  GRE REQUIREMENT:

Applicants may supplement the documentation of their academic credentials by submitting their score from the GRE Aptitude Examination (General Test) or from the MAT (Miller Analogies Test). When more than five years have elapsed since their bachelor’s degree was awarded, applicants must submit either the GRE or MAT. Other applicants who would like to strengthen their application by submitting the GRE or MAT scores may do so. Trinity Western’s institutional code for score submission is 0876. Applicants who have an M.A. in research-based subfields of psychology but who wish to acquire clinical skills are encouraged to apply.

  REFERENCE REQUIREMENT:

Applications must be accompanied by two references: 1) Academic Reference 2) Work-related Reference. These references must be written by persons who know the applicant well and can describe his/her personal qualifications for the role of counsellor. References may be written on plain paper and submitted in a sealed envelope with a signature across the seal.

Successful MA Leadership applicants will demonstrate English language proficiency at a master’s (graduate) level of analysis and thinking. English as a Second Language (ESL) applicants achieving a minimum iBT TOEFL score of 105, or IELTS score of 7.5 on all bands, are considered to have achieved that level of proficiency, and may be eligible for direct entry to the MA Leadership program. Applicants scoring lower than this level, but with a minimum iBT TOEFL score of 100, or 7.0 on all bands of IELTS, are eligible to apply for the TWU ESLI Pre-Masters Program (PMP). Achievement of a PMP passing grade indicates demonstration of an acceptable level of English language proficiency for program entry.

For those with an IBT TOEFL score of less than 100, or IELTS score of less than 7.0, PMP entry will only be considered following demonstrated improvement in English language competency via participation at an appropriate level of the TWU ESLI program.
