Postgraduate Academic Entry Requirements
Admission into UNE postgraduate programs requires completion of an educational qualification considered to be at least comparable to an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) bachelor degree.

Master of Arts
A candidate shall:
(a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification; or
(b) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification with a major in a relevant discipline; or
(c) hold an AQF level 8 Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Bachelor with Honours or AQF Level 9 Masters qualification in a relevant discipline.
Master of Business Administration
A candidate shall:
(a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification in a relevant discipline* and at least two years of full-time equivalent relevant professional experience**; or
(b) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification or above in a non-relevant discipline and have at least two years of full-time equivalent relevant professional experience**; or
(c) hold an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate in Management from this University or its equivalent plus at least two years of full-time equivalent relevant professional experience**; or
(d) hold an AQF Level 8 Honours qualification in a relevant discipline* and at least two years of full-time equivalent relevant professional experience**; or
(e) hold an AQF Level 9 Master qualification or above in a relevant discipline* and at least two years of full-time equivalent relevant professional experience**; and
(f) all applicants must submit two referee reports from employers or senior colleagues (on company letterhead) plus a resume.
*Relevant disciplines include, but are not limited to:
Business
Management
**Relevant professional experience refers to a position of responsibility in any organisational or industry context.
Master of Computer Science
A candidate shall:
(a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification in a relevant discipline*; or
(b) hold an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma or Bachelor with Honours qualification in a relevant discipline*.
*Relevant disciplines include, but are not limited to:
Computer Science
Information Systems
Information Technology
Master of Economics
A candidate shall:
(a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification with a major in a non-relevant discipline; or
(b) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification with a major in a relevant discipline*; or
(c) hold an AQF Level 8 Graduate Diploma qualification in a relevant discipline*.
*Relevant disciplines include, but are not restricted to:
Agricultural Economics
Economics
Econometrics
Master of Health Management
A candidate shall:
(a) hold an AQF Level 8 UNE Graduate Certificate in Health Management or equivalent; or
(b) hold an AQF Level 8 UNE Graduate Diploma in Health Management or equivalent; or
(c) hold an AQF Level 7 bachelor qualification in the same or another health, business or management discipline from a recognised educational provider; or
(d) for international students hold an AQF equivalent level 7 Bachelor degree in a relevant health or management discipline*; or
(e) satisfy the School by means of other relevant qualifications and workplace experience [at least equivalent to Admission Rule (c)] of adequate preparation for candidature.
*Relevant disciplines include, but are not limited to: Nursing, Community Services and Health Management.
Master of Information Technology
A candidate shall hold:
(a) an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification; or
(b) an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification with a major in a relevant discipline*; or
(c) an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Bachelor with Honours qualification in a relevant discipline*.
*Relevant disciplines - includes but are not limited to the following:

Information Technology
Master of Laws
A candidate shall:
(i)(a) hold an AQF Level 8 Bachelor of Law with Honours or AQF Level 7 Bachelor of Law with at least two years full-time, documented, relevant professional experience; or AQF Level 9 Masters qualification in Law;or
(b) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor of Law or Juris Doctor; or
(c) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification; and
(ii) comply with the University's English Language requirements.
Master of Nursing
A candidate shall hold a current Nursing registration (eg Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia) or equivalent and either:
(a) hold the AQF Level 7 degree of Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent; or
(b) hold an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate in Nursing; or
(c) hold an AQF Level 8 Graduate Diploma in Nursing; or
(d) satisfy the School by means of other relevant nursing qualifications and workplace experience [at least equivalent to Admission Rule (a)] of adequate preparation for candidature.
Master of Urban and Regional Planning
A candidate shall:
(a) hold an AQF Level Bachelor degree in a discipline related to the built environment including architecture, planning, environment or geography; or
(b) hold an AQF Level 8 Graduate Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning (including at least one 500-level unit) from the University of New England or equivalent AQF Level 8 qualification (including at least one 500-level unit) and attained at least a Credit average in 48 credit points.
STANDARD MINIMUM ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT
At least one of the following criteria must be met:
English is the applicant's first language; or
Satisfactory completion, within five years of the date of application for admission to UNE, of at least one year of full-time or equivalent full-time study at senior secondary, post-secondary or tertiary level in a country in which English is the primary official language or co-official language and in which English was the sole medium of instruction and assessment for the particular period of study claimed, resulting in an AQF award or an award recognised by the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (NOOSR); or
A pass grade or better in an English language subject at Australian Year 12 level or overseas equivalent; or
An IELTS (Academic) overall score of at least 6.0 with no sub-band less than 5.5; or equivalent TOEFL score of at least 213 in the computer-based test; or at least 79 in the internet-based test with no less than 22 in the written component; or a PTE Academic minimum overall score of 57 with no skill less than 50; or
Satisfactory completion of the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program at the University of New England English Language Centre, or an equivalent EAP program at an Australian university NEAS- accredited English Language Centre (subject to certification from the university concerned that satisfactory completion of that university's EAP program would entitle the applicant to be accepted into a comparable award-bearing program at that university); or at a non-university NEAS-accredited English Language Provider recognised by the Academic Board Teaching and Learning Committee; or
Satisfactory completion on a prior or concurrent basis of an English communication skills program appropriate for specific programs approved by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Educational Innovation and International) or his/her nominee, on the joint advice of the relevant Head of School and Director, UNE International, or equivalent.
