Eligibility for Application
1. (Type 1) A foreigner whose parents are also foreigners.
- Both the applicant and his/her parents are foreign nationals.
- The one who has completed (expected) the education courses corresponding to Korea’s primary, secondary and tertiary, and college education or the one recognized as having the equivalent education based on the law.
- The applicant who satisfies all the qualifications for application. (Please refer to ‘Chapter V. Qualifications for applicants’)
2. (Type 2) A foreigner who has completed 12 years education courses of primary, secondary and tertiary education overseas.
- The applicant is a foreign national.
- The one who has completed (expected) the education courses corresponding to Korea’s primary, secondary and tertiary, and college education overseas or the one recognized as having the equivalent education based on the law.
- The applicant who satisfies all the qualifications for application. (Please refer to ‘Chapter V. Qualifications for applicants’)
Qualifications for Applicants
Common Qualifications
The applicant must satisfy at least one of the language proficiency requirements and conditions listed below.
1. Applicants holding the level 3 or higher in the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) (Certificate must be valid at the time of submission)
2. Applicants who completed the level 4 of higher class of the Korean language program at the KNU International Language Institute.
3. Applicants with the English Proficiency Test Scores - TOEFL 530, CBT 197, iBT 71, IELTS 5.5, CEFR B2, TEPS 600, TOEIC 700 (Certificate must be valid at the time of submission)
4. Government invited scholarship students, Foreign government supported scholarship students, the one who applying for the Departments in the field of Arts, Sports, Natural Science or Engineering, applicants from the countries whose native language is English (US, Canada, UK, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, Ireland)
5. Applicants submitting the Letter of Recommendation for Excellent Researcher by the prospective academic advisor
6. In the case of number 1~3 above, applicants are expected to take the test or complete the course. (The relevant certificate must be submitted by February 17(Fri), 2017, and if not, the acceptance will be cancelled.)
※ Every admitted student must acquire at least TOPIK level 4 or English proficiency certificate(minimum score: TOEFL PBT 550, CBT 210, iBT 80, IELTS 5.5, TEPS 600, TOEIC 700) before submitting the thesis written for the degree via online. It is not applicable to the students majoring in Arts and Sports or the students from the countries whose native language is English (above listed 7 countries)
Master's course
Applicants must meet the above common qualifications and have a bachelor’s degree (expected) or equivalent level of education approved by law.
Doctor's course
Applicants must meet the above common qualifications and have a master’s degree (expected) or equivalent level of education approved by law.
Combined course
Applicants must meet the above common qualifications and have a bachelor’s degree (expected) or equivalent level of education approved by law.
