ABOUT
Undergraduate Science and Biomedical Science students have the opportunity to undertake 4-6 weeks work full time on a project within the Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience.
The work performed is not for credit but a report of the work is required at the end of the scholarship period. The scholarship covers research projects conducted within laboratories of the Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience.
The scholarships can be held for 4-6 weeks by arrangement with your supervisor. In the Vacation Scholarship, the student will work in their supervisor’s laboratory on the design, execution and analysis of a series of experiments. It is important that a student first obtain the agreement of a supervisor before completing this form.
The scholarship is tax free and will be paid as lump sum midway through your tenure.
BENEFITS
Four scholarships per annum each with a value of $1,000.

ELIGIBILITY
1. Eligibility: Student must have discussed the scholarship project with a supervisor in the department and have supervisor approval.
2. The student cannot be enrolled in BIOM30003 or SCIE30001 and the project work cannot be used for academic credit.
3. In the case of multiple applications, awards are made on academic merit.
SELECTION
Assessment of applications will be by Deputy Head Research and Deputy Head Teaching, or their nominees. Nominations to be approved by the Head of Department.
APPLICATION

1. Application form
2. A one page outlining your previous relevant experience and indicating what studies you intend to perform and what you hope to gain from a Vacation Scholarship in the Department of Anatomy and Neuroscience and the experience in the hosting laboratory.
3.. A letter of recommendation from your intended supervisor.

OUTCOME
The applications will be considered during the last week of Semester 1 and Semester 2 and successful candidates will be advised as soon as possible thereafter. The work would normally be done over the mid year or summer vacation. Further details of research groups within the Department can be found under the Research tab on the Department web site.
The Deputy Head (Teaching) will communicate with the successful applicant.
