　　1.A Unique College System

　　To many CUHK graduates, some of the fondest memories and lasting friendships originate from the Colleges. In these small communities, you will enjoy close interaction with your teachers and grow with your peers. All full-time undergraduates at CUHK can apply for affiliation with one of the Colleges. Each College is distinctive, but together they shape the character of the University.

　　Colleges are congenial communities with their own hostels, dining halls and other facilities. They are where students receive pastoral care and whole-person education, and offered exciting palettes with which to colour their university life, including overseas exchange, student visitor programmes, seminars, mentorship and community service programmes, and training in languages, IT and leadership. Extracurricular activities are also organized by the college student unions.

　　The plethora of non-formal learning opportunities offered by the Colleges complement the formal curricula, nurture students' interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity, and build up their confidence and sense of social responsibility.Many graduates of the University have quoted college life as among their best experiences at CUHK.

　　1.独特的书院制

　　对于许多港中大毕业生而言，一些最美好的回忆和最长久的友谊来源于书院制。在这些规模较小的社区中，你将可以和老师们亲密互动，和同龄伙伴一起成长。港中大所有全日制本科生都可以申请一个学院。每个学院都不一样，但是它们共同塑造了港中大的精神面貌。

　　书院是一个意气相投的社区，有自己的旅社、食堂和其他设施。书院是学生接受教牧关怀和全面教育的地方，有令人兴奋的用于丰富大学生活的各种活动，包括海外交流、学生访问项目、研讨会、导师制、社区服务项目、语言培训、信息技术和领导能力等等。此外，学生会也组织各种课外活动。

　　各学院提供大量的非正式学习机会，充实正式课程，培养学生的个人交际能力和文化，敏感力，打造他们的自信心和增强他们的社会责任意识。许多毕业生在谈到书院生活时，都认为它是他们在香港中文大学最美好的经历之一。

　　2.Our Colleges

　　Established in 1963, The Chinese University of Hong Kong has its origin in Chung Chi College, New Asia College and United College. Shaw College was established in the late 1980s. To cater for the addition of students upon reversion to a four-year undergraduate curriculum in 2012, Morningside College, S.H. Ho College, C.W. Chu College, Wu Yee Sun College and Lee Woo Sing College were established, taking the total number of Colleges to nine.

　　Chung Chi College

　　Chung Chi College was founded in 1951 by the Protestant Churches in Hong Kong to fill the need for a local institution of higher learning that would be both Chinese and Christian. The College has close ties with prestigious educational bodies in Europe and the United States. It promotes general arts and science education and implements study trips and study abroad programmes that are highly popular among the students.

　　New Asia College

　　New Asia College was founded in 1949 by a group of scholars from mainland China headed by Dr. Ch'ien Mu who aimed at preserving traditional Chinese culture and balancing it with Western learning so that students might understand their cultural heritage while being able to cope with the challenges of the modern world. The College has time-honoured ties with Yale University and collaboration programmes on exchange, research and internships with many universities and corporations on the mainland, in Taiwan, Japan and Singapore.

　　2.书院

　　香港中文大学创办于1963年，其历史渊源可追溯到崇基学院、新亚书院和联合书院。逸夫书院成立于上个世纪80年代。2012年起，为满足四年制本科课程新增学生需求，香港中文大学建立了晨兴书院、善衡书院、敬文书院、伍宜孙书院和和声书院。书院书目因此增加到了九所。

　　崇基学院

　　崇基书院由香港基督教教会代表于1963年创办，初衷是为了满足当时社会对高等教育的需求。崇基学院同欧美一些著名的教育机构有密切联系。崇基学院倡导文理通识教育，另有游学和海外学习项目。这些在学生中间非常流行。

　　新亚书院

　　新亚书院创办于1949年，创办者是以钱穆博士为代表的一行中国大陆学者。他们的目标是保存中国文化，平衡西学，以便学生能理解自己的文化遗产，同时有能力应对现代世界面临的各种挑战。新亚书院长久以来一直与耶鲁大学有合作，同大陆、台湾、日本和新加坡的大学和企业也有交换、研究、实习合作。

　　United College

　　United College was founded in 1956 through the amalgamation of five post-secondary colleges which were originally private universities in Guangzhou and its vicinity and which were closely related to higher education in Hong Kong. Through its various programmes, the College promotes innovation and the entrepreneurial spirit. College life places emphasis on moral education, environmental protection and health awareness. Its exchange programmes enable students to benefit from contact with their counterparts across the globe.

　　Shaw College

　　Shaw College was founded in 1986 with private donations to promote the cultivation of virtue and the pursuit of knowledge. The completion of amenity facilities renovation in 2009 brings a new indoor sports hall which is conducive to building college spirit and coherence. The renovations carried out in hostels have also enhanced student residential life. High Table Dinners and various community service opportunities are provided to broaden the horizons of students.

　　Morningside College

　　Morningside College was founded in 2006 with private donations to deliver a novel college experience to 300 students on a fully residential and communal dining basis. Its campus is sited next to the Sports Centre, set against the contour of the hills and commanding a full view of the Tolo Harbour. The College is distinguished by its commitment to service and intellectual inquiry, distinctly international character, and highly participatory nature.

　　联合书院

　　联合书院成立于1956年，由战后五所专上学院合并组成。五所学院原为广州及其邻近地区的私立大学，与香港高等教育有密切联系。通过各种课程，书院培养创新和企业精神。书院生活强调道德教育、环境保护和健康意识。书院的交换计划让学生可以有机会到世界各地专上学府学习。

　　逸夫书院

　　逸夫书院创办于1986年，由私人捐赠成立，旨在美德的培养和知识的追求。文娱设施翻修于2009年完成，让书院有了一个新的室内运动场，有助于打造书院精神和凝聚力。此外，学生宿舍装修也改善了学生住宿生活。高桌晚宴和各种社区服务则为学生提供了扩宽视野的机会。

　　晨兴书院

　　晨兴书院于2006年由私人捐赠成立，目标是在全宿共膳基础上为300名学生提供独特的书院体验。书院校园临近体育中心，依山而建，俯瞰吐露港。书院以济民和求知立世，独特国际品质和高度共享着称。

　　S.H. Ho College

　　S.H. Ho College was founded in 2006 with private donations to deliver a novel college experience to its students on a fully residential and communal dining basis. It is sited north of the University Avenue and next to the Sports Centre. It admitted the first cohort of students in Autumn 2010, and is now in full operation accommodating 600 students. The College seeks to provide its students with a welcoming environment where they call home, and is attentive to tried and tested traditions of whole-person education.

　　C.W. Chu College

　　C.W. Chu College was founded in 2007 with private donations. It aims at creating a novel college experience for its students on a fully residential and communal dining basis. Situated at the Campus Circuit North, it accommodates 300 students, and operations began in 2012. The College seeks to be an intimate community of scholars drawn from diverse backgrounds, engaged with the world in a spirit of curiosity and generosity.

　　Wu Yee Sun College

　　With the very generous support from the Wu Yee Sun Charitable Foundation Limited, The Chinese University of Hong Kong established Wu Yee Sun College as one of its constituent colleges in 2007. Located on Residence Lane 1, the College accommodates 1,200 students, with half of them in residence. The first cohort of students joined the College in September 2012. The College seeks to cultivate among students a rich academic atmosphere, and an entrepreneurial spirit with social responsibility.

　　Lee Woo Sing College

　　Lee Woo Sing College was founded in 2007 with private donations to deliver a novel college experience to its students. Located by Residence Road in the valley in front of the Chan Chun Ha Hostel, it accommodates 600 residential students and up to another 600 non-residential students. The College admitted its first cohort of students in 2011. The College emphasizes the spirit of 'Harmony'—being kind to people and handling things with moderation, and also striving to create an environment in harmony with its natural surroundings.

　　善衡书院

　　善衡书院于2006年由私人捐赠成立，目标是在全宿共膳基础上为学生提供独特的书院体验。书院在大学道以北，临近体育中心。书院在2010年秋首次招收了第一批学生，目前有600名学生。书院努力为学生提供如家般温暖而友好的环境，致力于全面教育。

　　敬文书院

　　善衡书院于2006年由私人捐赠成立，目标是在全宿共膳基础上为300名学生提供独特的书院体验。书院位于环回北路，可容纳300名学生，2012年开始运作。书院努力成为吸引来自各个背景的学者的亲密社区，并以好奇和大方之精神参与世界。

　　伍宜孙书院

　　在伍宜孙慈善基金会慷慨支助下，香港中文大学于2007年成立伍宜孙书院。书院位于士林一巷，可容纳一千二百名学生，半数学生住校。书院从2012年9月开始招生。书院努力在学生中间营造丰富的学术氛围，培养企业精神和社会责任感。

　　和声书院

　　和声书院于2007年由私人捐赠成立，旨在为学生提供独特的书院体验。书院位于士林路旁，地处陈震夏宿舍前方的山谷，可容纳六百名住校生和六百名走读生。书院于2011年开始招生。强调和谐，与人为善，谦和处事。同时，书院努力创造与其自然环境相协调的环境。
