3.SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE
The School of Architecture has been ranked 5th in the UK for Architecture/Built Environment in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017. This fantastic ranking in our very first year is a credit to our students and staff, and demonstrates the quality of our course and school.
Students will also benefit from dedicated individual studio work space within a newly refurbished historic building on our landscaped campus, accessible seven days a week. They will be able to take advantage of workshops and other state-of-the-art facilities to support their learning experience.

5.School of Biomedical Sciences
The Biomedical Sciences division includes 37 Principal Investigators as academic staff members. The purpose of our research is to further understand both the healthy and disease states, as well as mechanisms of infection, through use of a range of approaches such as bioinformatics, biomolecular, biophysical, disease modelling, physiological, structural biology and systems biology. Our overall aim is to identify new approaches for maintaining and improving wellbeing. The scope of our research is broad, encompassing studies on the major factors influencing health in the developed world, including aging, cancer, cardio-vascular disease and diabetes, with emphasis on areas such as heart physiology, haemostasis and thrombosis. Examples of other interests are novel therapies for muscular dystrophy, factors controlling fertility, and current and emerging transmissible diseases including foot & mouth disease, haemorrhagic fever, plague and MRSA infection. Research within the division is central to the University's interdisciplinary research strengths in Health and Food Security, and is thus key in driving these major themes.
