Departments at Stockholm University
Education and research are conducted at Stockholm University within 58 departments, centres and institutes which answer directly to the boards of human science and science, or the faculty boards.
Faculty of Humanities
The Faculty of Humanities is one of four faculties at Stockholm University and comprises 19 departments and centres. It provides education and conducts research in about 50 different subjects. The Faculty has more than 10,000 students and 1,000 members of staff, which makes the Faculty of Humanities at Stockholm University the largest faculty of humanities in Sweden.

Archaeology and history
Archaeology and history is one of the leading research areas at Stockholm University. The department has six sections: Classical Archaeology and Ancient History, Archaeology, Stockholm Numismatic Institute, Archaeological Research Laboratory, Osteoarchaeological Research Laboratory and Centre for the Study of Cultural Evolution.
English
University education is experiencing a period of intense and rapid globalization. Parallel to the globalization of many industries, we have also seen the impact of internationalization on universities worldwide in recent years. Today, the global language of the university is English, and the vast majority of academic publishing in most disciplines takes place in that language.

History
The Department of History is the largest of its kind in Sweden, located only ten minutes from Stockholm City centre. To be situated in the capital of Sweden provides great advantages since we benefit from access to major archives, museums and governmental agencies.
The University is situated in the middle of the first national city park in the world and is characterised by natural beauty, unique architecture and contemporary art and sculpture.
