  International scholarships

  The University offers a number of scholarships which international students are eligible to apply for. We also have links with external providers of scholarships for international students studying at Leicester.

  President's Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme

  This scholarship is for international (non-EU) students beginning an undergraduate degree at Leicester in September 2018.

  There is no need to apply for this scholarship. Eligible students will be automatically considered. If successful, you will be notified when final results are available.

  Value

  This scholarship gives you a 10% reduction in your tuition fee for each year of full-time study at the University, up to a maximum of three years.

  Eligibility

  The scholarship is available to students who achieve the grades listed below, and who will join any University of Leicester degree, excluding Medicine.

  Terms and conditions

  You must be classified as an international student (non-EU) for fee purposes.

  The scholarship will not apply if an industrial placement or exchange year is undertaken, or if you suspend your studies for any reason.

  In accordance with scholarship guidelines, students are allowed to hold only one University of Leicester scholarship, awarded either centrally or by a department. If you are awarded more than one scholarship, you will therefore receive only the higher value award.

  You cannot combine this scholarship with a full scholarship (for tuition fees and living costs) from any other source. You must inform us of any other scholarships/sponsorship currently held, or awarded at a later date. Our scholarship may be adjusted or withdrawn if other sources of funding have been awarded.

  If you have a partial scholarship from other sources you will still be considered for the President's Undergraduate Scholarship.

  The scholarship is only valid for entry in September 2018.

  If you enroll on a Medicine degree, you will not be eligible for the scholarship.

  College of Science and Engineering Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme

  A tuition fee discount of 22% - 28% if you achieve certain grades - is available to international students from eligible countries in Asia and Africa who apply for an undergraduate degree within one of the departments in our College of Science and Engineering, starting at Leicester in September 2018.

  There is no need to apply for this scholarship. Eligible students will be automatically considered. If successful, you will be notified when final results are available.

  Conditions of the award

  You must be classified as an international (non-EU) student for fee purposes.

  The fee discount will be calculated on the basis of the standard tuition fee for each year of your course. The discount will not be applied to a year spent abroad or on an industrial placement (these years have a greatly reduced fee anyway).

  In accordance with scholarship guidelines, students are allowed to hold only one University of Leicester scholarship, awarded either centrally or by a department. If you are awarded more than one scholarship, you will therefore receive only the higher value award.

  The scholarship is only valid for entry in September 2018.

  If you currently have a conditional offer of a place at the University, you will still need to fulfil any conditions stated on your offer letter.

  The scholarship is only available for campus-based courses.

  University of Leicester ISC Foundation Year Scholarship Scheme

  This scholarship is only available to international (non-EU) students completing the International Foundation Year programme at the Leicester International Study Centre in 2018 and progressing to an undergraduate degree at the University in September 2018.It gives you a 10% reduction in your tuition fee for each year of full-time study at the University, up to a maximum of three years.

  Eligibility

  The scholarship is available to students who achieve 5% higher than the standard progression requirement (depending on degree) in the ISC foundation programme. For example, if you progress to a degree for which the requirement is 65% overall, the grade required for the scholarship will be 70%.

  For students applying to Law, for which the standard progression requirement is 75%, the scholarship requirement is also 75%.

  There is no need to apply for this scholarship. Eligible students will be automatically considered. If successful, you will be notified when final results are available.

  This scholarship is not available to student studying Medicine.

  Maximum number of scholarships available each year: 50

  Value of Scholarship: £3,500 in the form of reduction in tuition fees

  Criteria: Academic merit

  Application deadline - there will be two deadlines during the year:

  30 March 2018 if you receive your offer to study with us before 10 March 2018

  31 July 2018 if you receive your offer to study with us after 10 March 2018

  Eligibility

  This scholarship is for new international (non-EU) students on a full-time, taught, campus-based Masters course starting in September 2018 or January 2019.

  This scholarship is open to applicants who already have an offer (conditional or unconditional) to study for a Masters degree programme at the University.

  You cannot combine this scholarship with a full scholarship (for tuition fees and living costs) from any other source. You are able to receive only one partial scholarship from the University. If you have a partial scholarship from other sources you will still be considered for the President's Postgraduate Scholarship.

  If you meet the eligibility criteria for this scholarship but are unsuccessful with your application, you will automatically be considered for the Head of College Scholarship Scheme. There is no need to make a separate application.

  Head of College Scholarship

  Maximum number of scholarships available:

  25 scholarships for students from the College of Social Science, Arts and Humanities

  25 scholarships for students from the College of Life Sciences

  30 scholarships for students from the College of Science and Engineering

  Value of scholarship: £2,500

  Criteria: Academic merit

  Application deadline - there will be two deadlines during the year:

  30 March 2018 if you receive your offer to study with us before 10 March 2018

  31 July 2018 if you receive your offer to study with us after 10 March 2018

  This scholarship is for new international (non-EU) students on a full-time, taught, campus-based Masters course starting in September 2018 or January 2019.

  The scholarship will not apply if an industrial placement or exchange year is undertaken, or if you suspend your studies for any reason.

  In accordance with scholarship guidelines, students are allowed to hold only one University of Leicester scholarship, awarded either centrally or by a department. If you are awarded more than one scholarship, you will therefore receive only the higher value award.

  If you currently have a conditional offer of a place at the University, you are still required to fulfil any conditions stated on your offer letter.

  The scholarship is awarded in the form of a reduction in tuition fees.

  If you apply for the Head of College Scholarship you will also be considered for the President’s Postgraduate Scholarship. There is no need to make a separate application.

  College of Science and Engineering Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme

  A tuition fee discount of 22% - 28% if you achieve certain grades - is available to international students from eligible countries in Asia and Africa who apply for a postgraduate (Masters) degree within one of the departments in our College of Science and Engineering, starting at Leicester in September 2018.

  There is no need to apply for this scholarship. Eligible students will be automatically considered. If successful, you will be notified when final results are available.

  Chevening Scholarship

  The UK Government Chevening Scholarships are open to international students who are applying for one year Masters programmes.

  Applications are usually open between August and November each year and are submitted online through the Chevening Scholarship website. Applications open in the August before your year of entry.
