　　Yesterday evening, when I went to town with mymother, we met a strange old man. It was raininghard and we had no umbrella(伞). We were trying toget into a taxi when he came up to us. He wascarrying a nice umbrella and he said that he wouldgive it to us for only a pound. He had forgotten hiswallet, he said, needed taxi-fare(出租汽车费) to goback home. My mother didn’t believe what he hadsaid at first, and asked him a lot of questions. Butthe old man didn’t get into a taxi. We followed(跟随)him and found he went into a pub(小酒店) andbought himself a glass of whiskey (威士忌) with the pound. After he drank it, he put on his hatand took up one of the many wet umbrellas there and went off with the new one. Soon afterthat, he sold it again.
