TOEFL OR IELTS SCORES
Generally, admitted students have an Internet-based TOEFL score in the 95-105 range (587-620 on the paper-based test) or an IELTS score of 6.5-7.5. Our TOEFL test code is 1846. Please request that official IELTS scores be sent by paper to the Office of Admissions & Recruitment.
FRESHMEN: Freshman applicants from non-English speaking countries must submit a TOEFL or IELTS score, unless English was the language of instruction for all courses in all years of secondary school.
TRANSFER STUDENTS: Transfer applicants from non-English speaking countries must submit a TOEFL or IELTS score, unless they have completed a college level English composition course at a U.S. college or university.
If you feel that you qualify for a TOEFL or IELTS waiver based upon the requirements above, please submit all required transcripts to our office as soon as possible. Once your transcripts are marked as "Received" on your Student Center, please send an email to our office and a counselor will determine if the waiver criteria are met.

Grades
A minimum undergraduate grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00 on the equivalent of the last 60 semester hours (approximately two years of work) or a master’s degree with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 is required. Applicants from an international institution must demonstrate strong academic achievement comparable to a 3.00 for an undergraduate or master’s degree. All GPAs are based on a 4.00 scale. The Graduate School will use your institution’s grading scale. Do not convert your grades to a 4.00 scale.
Under certain circumstances, with program approval, admission may be granted with the following scores. However, in order to be admitted, an English assessment test (ESLAT) will be required upon arrival, and any recommended English as a Second Language (ESL) course must be completed successfully in your first semester. Below are the ranges in which an ESLAT will be required:
TOEFL (iBT) 80-91
TOEFL paper based 550-579
IELTS 6.5
MELAB 77-81
入学要求：
正规大学四-六年制本科毕业，取得学士学位
GPA不低于3.0，尤其是大三大四的专业课，以及研究生阶段的课程成绩更不得低于3.0，

拥有足够的资金及其证明，申请时无需递交——当申请者的学术成绩被确认后，才由研究生院通知申请者递交。2014年秋季要求国际学生至少准备$44,761元的资金证明，该数目预计会逐年增加5%左右
注：威斯康辛麦迪逊开设有ESL课程，如语言成绩未达上述要求，但达到了下述标准仍可以向威斯康辛麦迪逊申请，但入学后必需参加由学校举办的英语评估考试。根据该考试成绩再决定需要读的ESL课程类型及课程时数——未通过该考试，不会被要求退学。
