European Languages and Cultures

In the first semester you will have language proficiency course units in your chosen language. The first semester comprises also a number of introductory course units to introduce you to the three profiles that the European Languages and Cultures programme offers. In the second semester you will choose one or two of these profiles to specialise in throughout the rest of the degree programme.

Within your profile you can specialise in your chosen language and language area by focusing your written assignments and papers on them. In addition, you will follow more proficiency training and course units in your chosen language.

Your Bachelor's degree is rounded off with a thesis which must be written in your target language (with the exception of Russian).

Europe: Politics and Society (profile)
This profile focuses on political history, the emergence of modern nation states and European integration and disintegration processes before and after 1945.

You can opt for a Career Minor, a Minor abroad, a Teacher-training Minor, an At work in the Netherlands Minor, a University Minor or a pre-Master's Minor. The Minor abroad is a prerequisite for the target language endorsement on the Bachelor's degree certificate of this programme.
