2020考研英语：名词性语法内容解析(6)
且看第一个句子：Working with a personal search agent means having another set of eyes looking on for you.这个句子中的动词也不止一个，work,mean和have, look on都是动词。但在细细辨认之后，我们不难找出句子的重要动词是means，当它作“意味着”这个意思讲的时候，它是一个非实义动词，系动词，agent代理，代表。本句话的意思是“和一个私人的搜索代理合作，意味着……”Working with 此处是动名词作主语。由于means是谓语动词，也是系动词，所以having是动名词作宾语，也可称为表语。本句意为“意味着有另外的一对眼睛为你寻找……”Working和having在本句中，是动名词分别充当主语和表语。总之，我们要会辨认，重点是找到动词。
我们可以再看第二个句子：With thousands of career-related sites on the Internet,finding promising openings can be time-consuming and inefficient.这个句子虽然有些长，但是之前我们讲过类似的句子所以可以知道，With thousands of career-related sites on the Internet,是with复合结构做伴随状语，后面是一个句子，can be是重要动词，主语是finding promising openings,是动名词做主语，表语则是time-consuming and inefficient.Open原是动词，opening加s，既然能加s,则表示它是一个可数名词，意为“开放的职位空缺”。那本句就可以采用顺译的方法，翻译为“伴随着成千上万职业相关的网站出现，找到一个有前景的职位空缺可能是浪费时间和十分低效的。”
精析
比如阅读中有一句话：I have discovered, as perhaps Kelsey will after her much-publicized resignation from the editorship of she after a build up of stress, that abandoning the doctrine of “juggling your life,” and making the alternative move into “downshifting” brings with it far greater rewards than financial success and social status.在这个句子中，as perhaps Kelsey will after her much-publicized resignation from the editorship of she after a build up of stress,其实是一个插入语，我们可以不看，不用去管它。那么这个句子就变得较短，也较容易了。主语是I,谓语have discovered,that引导的是一个宾语从句，而且在宾语从句中abandoning the doctrine of “juggling your life和making the alternative move into “downshifting是动名词并列做主语，谓语是brings with,后面的部分全部充当宾语。在翻译的时候，我们可以按照正常的语序去顺译就可以了。这个中公考研英语老师在前面的例子中讲的比较多，这里就不再赘述。
