1.字数安排
在我们拿到一个topic的时候，首先要看字数要求，并以此来安排这篇essay的大致3个部分在字数上的分配.标准的essay分为4个部分：
introduction
body
conclusion
reference
以一份1500字的essay为例，标准比例为：
introduction 250 字
body 1000 字
conclusion 250 字
reference 不算在字数中
2.内容（body）
的字数安排.以一个topic为例：compare frederick w. taylor and Elton Mayo＇s management theories， what are the similarities and differences between them and what＇s their relationship？ 这个topic其实涉及到了三个内容：A--similarities，B---differences，和C--relationship.所以我们在字数上可以把body分为3个部分，每个部分约330字.
oduction. Introduction 分为两部分：
第一部分是background，引出topic的内容；
第二部分是body中的主要内容，也就是这篇essay的内容和段落排序.
以上的topic为例：

Both Taylor andMayo stated the importance of theproductivity and cooperation between managers and essay willfirstly discuss（＂this essay will firstly discuss＂这段话很重要，是个标志，所有essay都必须按照这个格式来.从这里开始，就是对整个essay的主要内容分几个板块来进行严格概括.这个标志后的内容应为body里的内容A）
these similarities intheir different management theories and how they relate to each owing this （这句话是个标志，此话后的内容为body里的内容B）
It will explain the differences of the two theories concerning the consideration of the human beings during management finally，（此后内容为内容C.注意：如果body里的内容不只是ABC，或者还有DEF的话，中间可以用subsequently， forthly等等的副词作为标志来写）
it will look at how the two theories affect the feeling of workers and support increasing the productivity and maxi missing the efficiency.
3.参考内容（reference）
我们平时遇到reference大概有2种，一种是APA格式，一种是Harvard格式，具体的reference格式根据不同的学校有不同的规定.（阅读：三个例子学会Harvard、APA、Oxford格式 ）两种格式其实区别不是很大，一般情况下，都可以在自己学校的图书馆里找到要求的reference的写法.（了解英文reference是什么？）reference一般分为两种，一种是直接引用quotation；一种是间接引citing.直接引用需要在in-text reference里写上具体的页数page no .但是间接引用不是必须要写上页数的.很多同学经常会问为什么in-text reference里面没有页数，那就是说明那个引用是间接引用，是用自己话来表达概括出所引用的理论.
关于reference的个数问题，一般来说，1000字的essay需要5-6个reference，1500字的需要8-10个.2000-3000字需要10-15个.字数越多，reference的数量越多.但是需要注意的是，一般情况下，引用部分只能占整篇文章内容的25%-30%.但是，Trunitin是澳洲各个大学普遍使用的一种防抄袭软件.一篇essay允许的相似程度是10%以下.所以直接引用的部分只能占整篇文章内容的10%以下.这样，我们可以尽量使用间接引用.
