一、博雅教育
那么如何正确理解博雅教育,我来详细解读下。文理学院(Liberal Arts College),起源于美国,通常又被称为博雅学院或通识学院。因为文理学院注重综合教育,强调实现学生真正意义上的全面发展,让学生成为一个高素质、有教养的文化人。
这些特点产生的原因可以追溯到最初的学生群体,因为最初选择文理学院的都是贵族后裔,他们不用担心就业压力,关注的是如何提升自己的素质,提高自己的修养,成为一个贵族。
如果你了解这些背景,就不难理解为什么你会看到文理学院教授古典学,而很少教授会计学了。
二、以本科教育为主
要说文理学院以本科教育为主,主要是有两方面的原因:一方面大多数文理学院只提供本科教育,极少数提供研究生学位,这有利于它将最大的精力花在本科教育上。
另一方面,文理学院的教授一般以教学为主,无须花费大量的精力从事科学实验或论文发表。
三、规模小而精
大多数文理学院都是私立院校,规模较小,本科生人数从数百人到两三千人不等。
正因为如此,文理学院的师生比通常在1:12甚至以下,有的学校能达到1:7,这个比例保证了师生之间良好的互动,老师可以倾听每个学生的心声,了解每个学生的个性,特别适合学生的学业和个性化发展。
