这是个土生土长的北京大妞,在过去十年间留学旅居美国、英国和法国。遇到了很多人都对中国很好奇,但是他们对中国的印象还是停留在“共产主义”“污染”“外网被禁”等等非常标签化的词汇上。虽然他们有些的确是事实,但是当今普通中国人多样化的生活却很少被提及。
My name is Siyu. I was born and raised in Beijing, and I’ve spent last 10 years traveling, studying and working abroad in the US, UK, and France. Many people that I met were curious about China, but their impressions of China would end up with words like ‘communist,’‘pollution’ and ‘no Facebook.’ While many facts are true, the contemporary, living and multifaceted Chinese life is rarely heard of.
于是在一年前她开始创作这个“tiny eyes”的系列漫画,希望能从日常生活中更多的向大家分享中国文化。对她而言,学习了解其他文化一直是非常有意思的事情,于是她想把这种体验也传达给那些好奇中国文化的人。
I started "tiny eyes" comics a year ago in the hope of sharing Chinese culture through everyday life, To me, learning about other cultures has always been a fun experience, and I want to pass this feeling to people who are curious about China. In lots of my comics, I compare Chinese culture to western culture.
从这些对比中,我们会发现在同样的情况下,不同文化的人的表现会完全不同,并且大家都有自己独特的思维方式。其实每种文化都是有点“奇怪的”,但正是这些不同让它们变得有意思。
Through comparison, we realise how differently we act in front of the same situation and how we tend to think in a certain way instead of another. In the end, every culture is "weird" in its way, but it’s also the weirdness that makes it interesting.
