Discount supermarket giant Aldi is said to be among the biggest payers outside the City, with starting wages of up to 拢42,000 on offer for trainee managers.

The figures, from the 10th annual Graduate Market study, revealed that nearly a third of graduate jobs at Britain’s top 100 employers pay more than £35,000.

The research claimed that university students graduating this summer were likely to enter a “buoyant” jobs market with the most opportunities available since 2005.
