2021考研英语语法：分割结构的复习技巧
一、考点概述
分割结构作为一种特殊的结构，在翻译中考查的频次较高，难度较大，是考生的失分点。其考查主要体现为以下两点：一是显性分割，主要是以双逗号或双破折号将句子的成分隔开，比较明显，但如果插入语的内容较长，则会影响考生对句子的理解;二是隐性分割，主要体现在动词和宾语的分隔、先行词和定语从句的分隔、名词和其同位语从句分隔。
二、要点精析
按照分割结构的位置特点，常见的分割结构：主谓间隔、动宾间隔、名词和修饰语间隔，以及其他成分间隔等。
(1)分割主语和谓语
为了保持句子平衡，在主语和谓语之间可插入定语、状语、同位语等。
例：Li Lei, the most brilliant boy in the whole school, gets high score in each competition.
作为全校最聪明的学生，李雷在每次比赛中都能取得高分。
(2)分割谓语和宾语
句子的宾语比较长时，为了使句子结构平衡，及物动词与所接的宾语之间会被别的成分或表达隔开，有时宾语甚至会被放到句尾。
例：I impressed upon him the importance of the task.
我向他强调了这一任务的重要性。
(3)分割名词和修饰结构
主要是定语从句和同位语从句(包括其它形式的后置定语和同位语)与所修饰的名词之间会被别的成分或表达隔开。
例1：He laughs best who laughs last. 笑到最后的人笑得最好。(定语从句)
例2：The news is not true that we are having a holiday.
我们将去度假的消息不是真的。(同位语从句)
(4)分割其它成分
主要包含以下两种特殊结构，连词和主语间隔、搭配间隔。
例1：I am sure that, without modern weapons, I would make a very poor show of disputing the ownership of a cave with a bear. (连词和主语间隔)
我确信，在与一头熊争夺一个山洞所有权时，如果没有现代武器，我将会洋相尽出。
例2：I shall define him as an individual who has elected as his primary duty and pleasure in life the activity of thinking in a Socratic way about moral problems.(固定搭配分割)
我把他定义为这样的个体：他把用苏格拉底的方式思考道德问题，作为自己人生的首要任务和乐趣。

分析：
A. 分析句子结构。句子主句是But the idea rests on an understanding，其中主语是the idea，谓语动词为rests on，宾语为an understanding;介词短语“of the established conventions…new media”在understanding后作后置定语。分割结构that引导的同位语从句是对idea内容的解释说明。
B. 译文：新闻记者应比普通公民更加透彻地了解法律，而这种看法是基于他们对新闻媒体业已确立的规约和特殊责任的理解。

在英语中通常会有倒装，主要分两种一种是语法要求必须要倒装，比如：以here , there ,then , now , next引出的倒装句以表地点的介词短语引出的倒装句以表示方位的副词引出的倒装句否定词或具有否定意义的词及词组用在句首only置于句首as / though引导让步状语从句在虚拟条件句中，连词if省略时，即将were , had , should等词提到句首。第二种是人为的倒装，为了平衡句子的结构或强调一些内容，会对句子进行句序调整。这样就加大了理解难度，同学们在做题时要注意按照正确的顺序进行翻译。
例：Odd though it sounds, cosmic inflation is a scientifically plausible consequence of some respected ideas in elementary-particle physics, and many astrophysicists have been convinced for the better part of a decade that it is true.
分析：原文中Odd though it sounds,此分句为倒装句，是作者为了强调“奇怪”这个现象，特意把odd移到前面，构成了表语结构的提前。在翻译的时候要按照正常的顺序进行调整。
译文：尽管它听起来很奇怪，宇宙膨胀说是在基础粒子物理学中的一些公认的观点在科学上貌似可信的推论，并且很多天体物理学家在近十年中已经相信这种理论是真实的。
